wünderland

September 2, 2010

10 models, over 20 dresses, 7 locations, 8 hours… Priceless… We had a great time a couple of weeks ago with everyone at the wedding festivals fashion shoot. Everyone did such a fantastic job with all of the beautiful themes, flowers, dresses, invitations, etc. One of the themes was Wünderland, giving homage to Lewis Carol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
So join us down the rabbit hole and enjoy a few images from this fantastic shoot…

SHOOT whatchagot!

April 8, 2010

There are endless debates between professional photographers and amateurs alike regarding which camera system is the best. The Nikon and Canon camps are incredibly loyal to their brand and specific make of camera. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong answer when searching for the best camera, but one thing is certain. You can’t shoot whatcha’ don’t have withya’! No matter how great my equipment is, the best camera is the one I have in my hand. I can only capture a moment in time if I am prepared with a camera.

One of my favorite cameras is my iPhone. It doesn’t have a flash, no shutter, aperture, or ISO adjustment. There are no fancy bells and whistles. But, I have my iPhone with me everywhere I go so it is a camera that I use a lot… Now of course I do not rely on my phone for weddings, portraits, etc., but it is a great device to capture everyday occurrences that I would otherwise miss. Also, I can test out ideas and play with framing and composition before I pickup my SLR. This “playing” is invaluable to me as a photographer to stay sharp and stretch my creativity between shoots.

So, what’s the bottom line? Shoot, shoot, shoot… with whatever camera you have with you. And when you feel like you’re about to fill up your memory card, phone, hard-drive, etc…. shoot some more!

Here are a few recent images from our iPhones… Enjoy and happy shooting…

January 21, 2010

We want to thank all of our friends for a fantastic 2009! Here is a slideshow with just a few of our favorites from 2009. There were so many awesome moments at weddings and so many great portraits, it was difficult to just pick a few. So, go grab your favorite beverage (I’m having a cup of Earl Gray), sit back and enjoy the show…

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of photographing Anne and Jonathan’s wedding. They were wed at the chapel at Cliffs at Glassy with a beautiful reception at the clubhouse at Cliffs at Valley. Regardless of a little rain early in the day, everything turned out perfect. Here are a few shots from their special day…

veronica and bob

June 26, 2009

We were privileged to be with Veronica and Bob for their wedding celebration. They had a small, private wedding in February and decided to have a mountain reception with family and friends at Eseeola in Linville, NC. What a blast!

We had the opportunity to photograph a really sweet family a few weeks ago. Madeline and Emma immediately hit it off. As well, we were excited to see Jesse Rose (a former bride) come along for the shoot. Here are a couple of images from the shoot…

been a while…

June 25, 2009

It’s been a busy month and I just realized that it’s been quite some time since our last post… I will remedy that over the next few days. We’ve been editing, designing books, and shooting some fun stuff. I post a few images later today to view. As well, thank all of you that have commented on the photo tips; we’ll post more soon. June is a crazy wedding month, but it’s been a blast!

Anna and Larry had such a beautiful wedding last weekend in Charleston. The wedding was in a beautiful cathedral with a reception held at Lowdes Grove. Melissa, Leigh, and crew with A Charleston Bride did a fabulous job with the planning and staging of the ceremony and reception. As well, PDA lit the event to perfection with a warm glow to add to the spectacular evening.

Anna and Larry,
It was wonderful being a part of your day. It was great seeing you guys again and we are excited for you to see the rest of your images. Here are a few shots from your day…

Picnic on the lake

April 4, 2009

Do you have something that you say over and over like “we really ought to …” or “some day…” and it never happens? There are a few things in our life life that. We get too busy or distracted or other priorities come into play. We say all the time that we need to run over to the lake ( which is 5 minutes away) and have a picnic. We’ve said it for a couple of years, but never get around to it. Well, finally we have taken to time to “smell the roses” in a figurative sense. Here’s a quick iPhone shot of Cinnamon enjoying the ride and of our picnic spot.

We had a great time last month in Vegas at WPPI, a photographers’ convention and trade show.  Following the show, we spent a few days in Montana and took the time to work on a personal project.  While there, we really enjoyed meeting with a fantastic bindery who creates beautiful handmade books.  We are really looking forward to showing you a new line of book to come out late spring/early summer.  More on that later…

We always enjoy the opportunity to go out and shoot and this trip didn’t disappoint.  I’ve been meaning to post some of these shots for some time, but honestly, I just opened the files yesterday to have a look…  Some of the shots are from around Bozeman and Big Sky and others are from Yellowstone.  I’ll try to post more when I get a chance. Enjoy!
